Imagine you have lots of data on your website and you actually don’t know what to do with it and how to interpret the data. This is where Google Analytics can help you. Now what is Google Analytics? Google Analytics is a free web analytics service given by Google which will help you to track the website traffic. It is one of the most widely web analytics service used on Internet.

Let us take a look at the interface map above and learn how to interpret it.

 

Home is where you can see all your accounts and how they are performing. Then we can find Reporting tab which gives you access to Google Analytics reports and dashboard. We can also fine customization and Admin. In customization, we are able to find customized reports and Admin is where you will be able to manage Google Analytics in terms of create new properties, change user permissions, add integrations, etc

The Account Settings and Diagnostics displays the currently active account information and also gives us control to change settings, get help, and respond to diagnostic messages.

Number 3 is reports navigation section. This will show you all the reports in this section. Dashboards give you a collection of widgets which gives you an overview of reports and different metrics which are most important to you.

You can add one or more segments to your report. This will help you to compare and contrast your data in many meaningful ways.

Below this you will find Report tab. These reports will display you data in one or more tabs which will provide you multiple views of that data in a particular place. Beneath this you can find the graphical view of your data. The graphs will give you a visual representation of your data where you can even compare two metrics like new visitors vs existing visitors.

At the end of the page you will find report data in tabular form. The report will be displayed based on the metric you have chosen. It can provide data on different metrics like source or medium where from you are getting traffic to your website. It will also give you information on how many sessions you had on your website. A session is interactions that take place on your website. A single session can contain multiple page views, ecommerce transactions or social interactions. Then the behavior of your customers will be displayed in terms of new users, bounce rate, average time they spent on a session etc. The last one is the conversion tab which tells about your conversion rate, goal completions and goal value.
